The Sun Doesn’t shine on everyone

I know…. It has been a couple of days since ive wrote something to you. That’s because I was lazy 😉. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still lazy as a sloth with green algae growing on its ass.
In 2019 we went on a trip to Hyderabad. We were a large herd of omnivorous humans, there were almost 10 families including my own. They were my dad’s friends and their families. We went there by train, got ourselves an old bus whose seats were covered a layer of fine dust particles for sightseeing. I like to think that the bus gave me a bad cold that time and not the ice cream I ate. Anywho we saw a lot of places, shopped a lot, ate a lot, and slept a little. Seeing new places is more fun with friends and this trip was filled with a lot of them. Teasing each other, pulling pranks on each other and jump scaring many made the trip more memorable.

Then one fine night went for a “light show” or more like do-anything-with-lights show. the other guys in the group went for shopping and didn’t come for the show. It was a boring show, I wish I went with the guys that night, the lights and the music did not go well together.so I was the only guy in the group that night but didn’t mind. After sometime they played a Malayalam song , and we the whole gang of teens started screaming the lyrics in chorus. As we were “singing” two girls who were dressed well came and sat next to our group. They seemed friendly and started asking our names. We told them our names and the fact that we are tourists. Somehow they got really excited when we told them that we were tourists. The girls started looking at me in a weird way. They started flirting with me and I was shocked because no girl ever flirts with me. They asked if they could take photos with us and we were like “sure, why not”. The show … correction, the torture was finally over. The two girls my friends took pics together and I was the cameraman (why me god?). At last they said they wanted a pic with me (yea…buoy!). as they took pics with me they stood uncomfortably close to me. I should have got excited but I weirded out. Then those girl came to me and asked me if I’ll come here again the next day. I said I don’t know. they asked me for my number and for some reason I gave my number with a couple of digit misplaced. They left in a rickshaw and blew us all kisses as they left.

A street food wala called me after that and asked me the one question that unifies malayalees , "naatil evda?". Yea the street food wala was a Malayalee too. He explained to me that those girls are not "Normal girls" , they were underage prostitutes. I was shocked to hear this because they were so sweet and friendly to us.

I couldn't sleep that night , I ended up staring at the ceiling fan and tears made my pillows wet. Those girls were around 16 years old.... And they are selling their bodies to eat.

Why do they have to do this work? Who made them like this? Is someone forcing them to do this?
Such questions occupied my head the coming days and they still do. Who defines their fate?
